dispatches from the lung

My new album is out now and I had such a good time performing at the Resonant Lung to mark the release. Thank you to Aural Canyon, Primary Mystical Experience, N/O, and everybody that came out, it was a wonderful night.

Since moving to Austin, I have had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people. Among them is Matthew Erik Hanner - co-founder of Austin's premier ambient music label - Aural Canyon. Though our initial meeting began humbly through shared interests and online messages, we have grown to become great friends as he has worked tirelessly to promote progressive art and music in the greater Texas area. By hosting improvisational modular synthesizer performances, curating unique events like Dallas Ambient Music Nights, and supporting experimental artists including Steve Hauschildt and Matthewdavid, Aural Canyon is effectively carving out a comfortable niche in a new-age revival.

I am excited to be releasing my debut cassette, lullabies for molecules, on Aural Canyon. The release will commence with an intimate closed-door performance inside the Resonant Lung at Dimension Gallery and I will be joined by Japanese artist Nobuhiro Okahashi and Austin's own Primary Mystical Experience on April 7th. Several months back, Hanner was interviewed for Somewherecold and stated Aural Canyon is his "way of giving back to the music and art community in which I have learned my ears and heart for all these years. It’s also our chance to stand up to whatever crap is going on in the world and make it better.” Here is the full interview - support Aural Canyon via bandcamp and play a part in the life of a label.

Tonight, music from the new album will be played on 91.7's Fade to Yellow - catch the stream at KOOP.

I’m beyond happy to say that I have been accepted into the graduate fine arts program at California College of the Arts! I am so glad to have an opportunity to take the next big step in sharing my artwork with the world. Thank you to everyone who has supported me in this journey, sending love to all and looking forward to the future.

mmm #2

I was glad to perform for Me-Mer-Mo Monday for a second time this past week - thanks to everyone involved and all my pals that came out ❤️ As always, a huge thanks to Melissa Seely, the Volstead Lounge, Self Sabotage Records, & all the great performers. Below is a live recording of the performance - I think the car traffic in the background sets an appropriate mood for the piece. The performance starts at about 4 minutes in.

selected ambient works

I'm glad to be alongside some wonderful musicians for this week's Selected Ambient Works series by Rumourtone Music. Self-described as "the world's best underground ambient music collective," they share music from like-minded artists from around the world. Dreamy tunes abound.

" is a site that generates strange, endless sound collages by loading ambient tracks from SoundCloud and blending them with police radio chatter from locations across the world. Created in 2010, its novelty might have been expected to wear off by now. Instead, Will Pritchard discovers, its eerie, relaxing experience continues to amass new fans and new meanings in the hyperconnected age of Donald Trump."
